There's something musical in the water in North Seattle.

Getting to Know GMC

Imagine if Fleetwood Mac started in the '90s as a bunch of midwesterners chasing sunsets, music, and rain. Well OK, one guy is from Idaho, but you get the point. Four westward seekers stumbling ‘round Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood with their own unique twang.

As jam sessions happened, classic grooves found fresh new melodies and GMC created their own blend of catchy, folky, and soulful songs that make you want to sing along. GMC delivers murder ballads, songs born from hard-won wisdom, and at least one catchy tune about the importance of baking a pie. GMC’s four songwriters each have a voice of their own, but when combined, the group’s chemistry brings a rare alchemy to the stage.

Through decades of experience recording and touring in the Seattle scene, members of GMC have played just about every venue in town.

Jack Quick: Vocals, Guitar, Banjo, Dobro

A pure musical talent and experienced songwriter and sideman, Jack Quick moved to Seattle in the 90s from Michigan. Jack’s former sideman duties include tours with Joy Mills Band, Silverhands, and his own bluegrass group. While touring with Silverhands, Quick became a dear friend and collaborator with GMC bassist and songwriter Mikel McDermott.

GMC, Yeah You Know Me!

Casting the view forward, GMC is hoping to someday get a cease and desist letter from the car manufacturer to know that someone out there is listening to this humble Seattle Neighborhood band. Even as they have reached middle-age, they feel like they are just getting started.Greenwood Music Collective is a group of musicians who have played in various combinations for well over two decades.

They keep things interesting by constantly reinventing themselves musically and combining different instruments and voices into the mix.
